This week we’re reading a chapter a day from 1 John, 2 John, and 3 John as a part of the What’s Love Got to do With it? sermon series. Today’s reading is 1 John 1.

John opens this letter with a testimony about the “word of life.” This life was “from the beginning” it was heard, seen, and touched because it “was made manifest.” The life that John is referring to here is Jesus. He came to earth not as an apparition but truly as a human. (Contrary to some heresies spreading in John’s day, Jesus was fully man and could be seen, heard, and touched.)

We celebrated the end of the fiscal year and the closing of summer with a church-wide picnic and splash party.
