“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among menby which we must be saved.”
– Acts 4:12 (ESV)
All people on earth are guilty of sinning against our holy God.
“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…”
– Romans 3:23 (ESV)
The result of this sin is that we deserve death.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
– Romans 6:23 (ESV)
This opportunity for life when we deserve death was purchased for us when Jesus gave His own life in our place.
“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…”
– 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (ESV)
The incredible sacrifice Jesus made for us doesn’t have to be earned and certainly isn’t deserved by anyone of us.
“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
– Romans 5:8 (ESV)
There is no additional payment to be made, no left over debt to be paid back. It is simply a matter of believing that Jesus is who He claimed to be (the Lord, the Son of God, and the Savior of the world) and entrusting yourself to His saving work.
“…because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
– Romans 10:9 (ESV)
So the questions are simple:
- Do you recognize your imperfection and sin against a holy God?
- Do you believe that Jesus died as a substitute for your sins and was raised again to life?
- Do you confess that Jesus is the rightful Lord of all?
If so, you can cry out to Him asking for forgiveness and trusting His salvation.
Then find a local church where you can learn to follow Jesus’ ways – living out the salvation that He has freely given you.
